e-Taxis in ShenZhen Struggle to Win Mass Appeal

The China Shenzhen EV car pilot project could be replicated in other Cities, underpins China’s ambitious plans to put at least 500,000 electrical vehicles and Plug-in hybrids on
The road by 2015.
China is already the World’s biggest emitter of green house gases from burning fossil fuels and other human activities that scientist say are causing serious global Warning.
As the World fastest and Largest growing auto market, China. carbon footprint can only Grow.
Beijing ha pronounced the electric vehicles industry a top priority earmarking $1.5Billion annual for the next 10 years in the hope that it can transform the country into one of the leading producers of clean vehicles that why one of the reason by BYD has tremendous growth in 2008-2010. and Warren Buffet has placed a big hand in buying the shares of BYD.
However even with the China Government support and the popular support of e-taxi customer’s challenges remain for electric vehicles such as e-taxi to gain broader acceptance and widespread use.
Charging station are few and far between, repair shops are hard to find, and the car are expensive still. The interval between charge is still not much enough. Even after Government generously support and incentive, the Shenzhen e-taxi costs 80 percent more than the Volkswagen Santana that is running on street in Shenzhen.
The EV taxi is still too expensive and we ended up paying a lot more for VW Santana, even after Government Subsides, Said Du Jun, GM of PengCheng E-Taxi, the taxi operator participating in the project.
More and more Automakers such as local Dong Feng Motor Group, Co have pledged massive investment on greener vehicles; the global Makers such as Nissan and BWM are also working with Government to roll out their Leaf and E-mini respectively.
China has no comparable program in the United States as EV industry investment.
US Congress is considering a bill that would allocate $2.9B for a programme t help develop the infrastruture for widespread use of EV car.
German Cabinet agrees on plans in May to boost the Country’s sector with billions of euros in us subsidies, aiming to have 1 millions of the cars on the road by 2020.
Berlin’s move will double stat support for research and development to 2 billions euros through 2013.

Audi' DNA is Winning

To a crowd of nearly 25,000 fans, the Audi R18 TDI made its first public appearance at Le Mans testing on Easter Sunday. Although Audi Sport Team Joest was more concerned with race preparation than lap times, the Audi R18 TDI would be the fastest car around the Circuit de la Sarthe. Living up to his "Mr. Le Mans" nickname, Tom Kristensen set the fastest time of the day, clocking a blistering 3m 27.687s. In fact, all three R18's managed times of just over 3 minutes 27 seconds; posting the 1st, 2nd and 4th fastest times of the day.
From what we can see, even Mercedes, BMW does not provide full LED solution for Head lamp and DRL, only Audi has this full LED solution since 2009. That shows simply Audi has the heart to product an Hi tech image to every one driving an Audi. See what effort has been doing from other car manufacturers, Lexus has their full LED head lamp on IS600IH model in 2009 on low beam lamp.
Lexus Today has a Car show in ocean Terminal, I could see their entire line of car DRL is lit up by LED and they switch them all on every car. But the Hi beam head lamp is still HID.
From the Slogan on Audi. “Audi DNA is winning” is true…
So in your next car purchase, take this into consideration, we are not just buying car, but the latest technology!

New Mercedes A-class

New Mercedes Concept A-class Exposed in Shanghai Motor Show. It carries a long bonnet, low silhouette and slim window areas. It looks sportier compared with BMW 10series and Audi A3. The concept car will be fitted with a 2-litre direct-injection, turbocharged engine (210-horsepower) paired to a dual-clutch transmission. The same should be found in the production model. The new A-class will get its interior materials from the C-class. The interior has been designed with an aviation theme. The dashboard is shaped like an aircraft wing while the air vents mimic the afterburners of a jet engine. Other highlights include a sporty steering wheel, a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist. I love such a mini sportive racer with MB star logo at mid of the silhouette! a daring design base on the Mecedes classic.

World Most Expensive battery operating car, Rolls Royce's Phantom 102EX

Rolls Royce enter the Electric Car category with new launched The Phantom 102EX , an electric version of the Rolls Royce’s Top-of-the-line model.

This car is powered by the world’s largest electric car battery, weighing 640 kg. It has a range of 125 miles. The batteries can be charged quickly — in about eight hours — but if you want to conserve battery life, you’ll need to take the slower route and leave the car charging for more than 20 hours.

The car’s battery is charged simply by parking the car over special pads buried in the ground. The technology, called induction charging, uses magnetic coupling instead of a regular cable at 90% energy conversion efficiency. It works like your Braun Electric Tooth Brush at home invented 22 years ago.

The Phantom 102EX will reach 60 mph in less than eight seconds with a maximum speed of 100 mph — but slower than the regular Phantom, whose V12 engine brings the car to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.

Price? Wow, estimated to be of HKD$12,700,000.00! Not too much for a Snob, as this is the price of two 3 wrist watches…! Hmm!

World Class Automobile Manufacturing Line of Volkswagen

The world class manufacturing is entering into a new era that no one can expect a low cost running manufacturing with some primitive tool and human intensive kind of way of Shan Zhai factory model will be able produce volume product with consistent good quality. I am talking Consistent Quality goods. Let's go through a short plant tour to German Largest Automobile manufacturing Plant. The So called Factory has an outlook of a Hospital or museum of the 22nd Century. There is a special train for Visitor for touring into their plant, right at the entrance! The Outside is appealing, but inside is another story,, so amazing and advance! The line is super spacious, smooth and clean floor, no oil spillage, no hammer, saws, files, I believe you can not find any Shims! The technician is wearing smock that may looks cleaner than some doctors of certain third country, they use abundant telescopic cranes that can rotate position of the whole car in a programmed mode for ease of assembly at accuracy of certain faction of Millimeters! The crane will bring the car to the closest position distance to the part, not vice versa as we are making our cars! Highly flexibility in assembly according to you order on chassis, colour, engine type and optional accessory, as evolutional new concept as what we are thinking about Traditional way of “Volume Production Line”. Every German technician is experienced, qualified as a technician, they called themselves technicians' with name card is printed as Technician, as they had gone through numerous training and their mind set is imprinted with QUALITY Product proudly built By German… There is no more slogan on the production floor for High Yield, Good Quality as the basic Primary School training of the German has covered what “Quality” is … They do not need such Slogan.. they need to make it happened… they are looking for Commitment of their works, they are refreshed, happy, they pay good, they are being treasured as part of the Company members. Job satisfaction and Experience for improving the like to Close To perfect… every technician is perfectionist… No way for the Asian way to compare! Nor even US nor Japan. As Machine is never say tired, bored, and they are higher repeatable, high dependable, higher modifiable and they never STRIKE! Toyota was once doing very good on line automation. Now they are working on a new concept of manufacturing. Look at the VW Polo is located into the output floors Tower at Wolfsburg, like putting Lego or Match Box… hm! 5,000 visitor per week would come to see this amazing Lego assembly toys… This factory produces Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini… The Morale of this message is… we need to move forward ten steps instead of one at a time for thinking of the new Manufacturing Concept… Forget the traditional way for manufacturing… Computer assisted Flexible in line is the standard… Do not say you are No.1 because you have 500,000 workers… You are having the size of USS Enterprise with 5,000 Officers and Worker… but you are giant and it may take 1 hour to make a turn… We need highly flexible destroyer equipped the state of the art hi tech weapon to ensure you are fast and invincible! We need no such large people to row the boat. We need an efficient propeller to help... I would rather day we have just two workers on the floor but we produce 1,000 times more than you are having 100, workers….We make big bucks by investing on big bucks… if you think saving money for company will be a mistake…waste of time... apply OPM, Investment on investment with PLANNED amount each year on high tech manufacturing equipment.. Low Cost manufacturing equipment will turn out jelly bean… not Rolls Royce... Think ahead for IC assembly, LED manufacturing, LED Light bulbs, smart phone assembly…even equipment manufacturing… HK Snob
